     January 19, 2010 finishing the slabs and


The final pour is stripped of its forms.

The walls can now start.

 

 

 

         Time is of the essence. The wall is growing.

be stuccoed and painted.

Part of reinforcing any wall are the castillos -

a joint with rebar.

 


January 22, 2009


The wood pack is delivered after the rains.  The raminder of the structure will framed conventually.

 

The space between the retaining wall and the garage / house walls.

 

And so the garage walls continue to grow,......

 

It rained Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.  Saturday morning brought snow to the 10,000 foot peaks over looking chilly San Felipe and the Sea of Cortez.


               January 28 Update


Plumbing and electric are run within the blocks.

 

 

 

      

 

 The rear of the retaining wall is painted with tar to keep out moisture.  The wall will then be back filled.

 

 Wood forms are constructed to then make the cieling beams.  The structural beams, called vigettas, will allow for the roof top patio.

 

 

The walls are higher yet.


 2.2.10 Update


    The structural garage door header beam cures.

 

To the left you can view the roof stairway.


The lower structural base is set to allow the install of hollow decorative columns placed around the center of the castillos.

 

With the columns complete, the roof structure is ready.  Exact dimensions are now known and awaiting structural beam delivery for the roof.  This is the view from the front entry intio the kitchen.


This is the view of the house from the Zimmerman's, a neighbors, roof.  The glass block on the corner of the house allows light to enter the master bath.

A jig is made for the curve of the master bedroom exterior wall.

Garage posts are removed that supported the concrete patio pour.

The first trusses are raised into place. 

 

With level walls and level beams, all the trusses fit into place perfectly.

 

 

Excavation of the perimeter wall begins.

Footer is in place and first course for the perimeter wall begins.

 

The wall is growing quickly.

 

 

Windows have been ordered and awaiting arrival.

There is a storm coming and we want to get the retaining wall up s soon as possible so that the property to the west does not on site.

 The rebar will be then wrapped with wood forms and filled with cement.  The wood is then removed when dry. All these are details that other contractors tend to omit to cut costs, compromising integrity

The 2 piles are sand and gravel.  They are mixed with the cement to bind the blocks. 

The top and sides of the wall will eventually be finished to match the house.

 

 

 

The vigettas are formed from concrete and rebar - all handmade.

The stairs to the roof will eventually be tiled and have lighting.  The handrail and wll top will have a radius shape.

May 23, 2010 Update:


          The house pictured without the perimeter wall.

The columns will eventually support the patio cover.
